Kamini Beach is also known locally as Baby Beach, by virtue of the fact that it's the first sunbathing and swimming location going west along the coast road where it is suitable for families with young children.
You can catch a beach boat or take a water taxi to the pretty Kamini Harbour, then walk about 100 meters the rest of the way to the beach or you can walk along the coast road from Hydra town which is only half a kilometre away.
The beach is backed by a substantial building that has been sympathetically converted from the original arsenal of Hydra into a top-level restaurant, Castello, cafe/bar and is an excellent socialising place during the daytime. The owners of Castello maintain a small number of sunbeds and umbrellas for their cafe/bar clients but the rest of the beach is, of course, open to the public who are not obliged to use the cafe/bar.
If you fancy making a day out of a visit to the beach, you could take a horse trek with Harriet's Hydra Horses, so that you don't have to carry your beach picnic, spend the day on the beach and walk back along the coast road.
Apart from Castello, you can find snacks, lunch, dinner and refreshments back at Kamini Harbour at the Kodylenia, Christina's or Pefkaki tavernas.
