From the harbour, come into the courtyard then up these steps, the museum is in the corner at the top
You'll find the Ecclesiastical Museum is within the cloisters of Hydra's Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the centre of the port. It's a small museum that houses the church artifacts and regalia much of which is used during services and the church celebrations throughout the year.
The Ecclesiastical Museum "Macarios Notaras' located on the west side of the monastery and operated since 1999. Kept in special showcases all the relics of the monastery which are Holy Icons, vestments, Holy vessels, musical manuscripts, Turkish firman, silver Gospels etc.
There are relics from individuals as icons of Archimandrite. p. Athanasiou Kouloura personally sacerdotal objects of Bishop of Hydra kyrou PROKOPIOU Karamanou, which provided from his nieces ka. Elefreria Soylia and Maria Kourousopoulou, personal belongings of the Hierarch from Hydra, Bishop of Paronaxia kyrou EPIFANIOU, donated by his nephew Georgiou E. Kalafati, elaborate Cross Blessing donation by Anna Perkiza.
The opening of the museum officially committed on 15.08.2005 by the Archbishop of Athens k.k.XRISTODOULOU.
Chairman of the Board are our Respect Poimenarxis k.k. Ephraim and Director of the G.A.E. p. Akindynos Dardanos. Every year visited by about 5500 people.
The Museum is open from 1 April to 30 October daily except Mondays, from 10am to 2.00 pm.
