Hydra's Community Clubs

Art Lessons

From children to adults, numerous members of Hydra's community are artists and attend classes or collaborative groups.

Football

Hydra's football team is hugely popular on the island. The club also supports youngsters with junior teams and coaching. If you're on the island during the football season, visitors are always welcome to spectate from the terraces of the stadium.

Endurance Running

Endurance running in Hydra's countryside is one of the favourite sports on Hydra. Runners use Hydra's gruelling routes to train for marathons around the world as well as for the Hydra sports fixtures; Hydra Trails Event and SwimRun Hydra.

Water Polo

The Ydraikos Nautikos Omilos club manages the Hydra Water Polo team which is based in Athens because the facilities are better there. However, they do source team members from the island.

Dance Lessons

Ballet & Traditional Dance classes for children and fitness dance for adults. Often the dancers make public appearances to showcase the term's work during Hydra Festivals.

Music

Music is taught on Hydra from the age of 3 and all the way through to adult lessons. Many of Hydra's musicians are also members of the Island's marching band.

Drama & Theatre

Greek drama & theatre is taught from junior to high school levels with additional out of school clubs. Occasionally performances are open to the public. The island's Amateaur Dramatics Society put on a play every year which the entire community support.

The Hydra Cinema Club holds private member showings of films and guest presentations. They also operate the island's outdoor cinema with a program of films during the summer which are open to the public.
