There are four museums on Hydra Island Greece, which although not large or on the scale you would find in a big city, have more than enough information and some beautiful exhibits to illustrate Hydra's illustrious history. Well worth visiting all three as well as the Monastery in Hydra Town to give you an idea of what makes the community tick.
Located on the East side of Hydra Harbour, the archive museum of Hydra is a must visit for history buffs. The museum's archives are one of the most comprehensive in Greece for researchers.
This museum is a stunning example of what the prestigious homes of Hydra's ruling class from the 1800's. You'll also find a permanent exhibition of some of Greece's outstanding artists.
The Panagiotis Tetsis home was left to the island and is administered by the Koundouriotis mansion. The house and little shop as well as Tetsis' studio is preserved exactly as it was during the life of this extraordinarily talented artist.
This is a beautiful little museum that shows not just historically important artifacts but also much of the items used during the church services held on the island.
