Ground Floor
This is a spacious house with plenty of light. Located only a 5-minute walk from the port with two steps to climb, the house is situated on a quiet street.
On the ground floor, there is an Entrance Hall leading to:
Ground Floor Double/Twin Bedroom with En-suite
Ground floor bedroom, 12 m2, deep window to small calm street. Choice of Queen bed or two singles, which have plenty of drawer space built in. There is a tall antique wardrobe with large mirror, writing desk and chairs. The bathroom is ensuite.
Living Room & Kitchen
This is the hub of the house and offers a well-equipped galley kitchen to one end, a table large enough for everyone to enjoy a meal together and a real fireplace for cosy winter evenings.
Library/Study/Computer/Games Room
A short flight of steps from the corner of the living room lead down to a wonderful chill out or workroom. It is equipped with a MAC & printer which are available for those who can't escape work!
Summer Dining Courtyard
From the kitchen/living room, you can walk out to the pretty inner courtyard which is perfect for summer dining under the orange tree or chilling out in the dappled shade. There is a plant-filled side entrance from the street with Dokos stone underfoot, marble water basin and hose for a quick wash off salt & sand. The second ground floor double bedroom is across the courtyard from the kitchen/living room. A spiral staircase from the dining courtyard ascends to the back roof terrace.
2nd Bedroom, Garden Room, with ensuite bathroom
This pretty garden bedroom is 15 m2 and has its own fireplace. The window overlooks the orange tree and courtyard. You have a choice of Queen bed or two singles, which have plenty of drawer space built in. There is a large chest of drawers and ’secret’ cool space for hanging clothes. A writing table and chairs, shelf space and, not to mention, a funky chandelier. The bathroom en-suite also has a washing machine and clothes dryer. (There is also a clothesline in the side courtyard as you enter from the street door.)
Garden Roof Terrace
A spiral staircase from the dining courtyard, ascends to the garden terrace. There are tables and chairs, a useful sink and a choice of deep sun or dappled shade.
Top Floor
From the main entrance hall, stairs ascend to the top floor. From the landing, doors lead to:
Third Double/Twin (Blue) Bedroom, Top Floor
The Blue Room is a spacious upstairs room, 20 m2, has three windows and a windowed door onto a Juliet balcony overlooking the street. You have a choice of Queen double bed or two singles, which have plenty of drawer space built in. There is a large chest of drawers and built-in cupboard for hanging clothes, a dressing table and chairs. The large family bathroom is three steps away.
Fourth Double/Twin (Pompei) Bedroom, Top Floor
The Pompei Room is a generous 15 m2. Its window overlooks the courtyard and across to flowering roof garden. There is a choice of Queen bed or two singles, which have plenty of drawer space built in. There is also a tall old wardrobe, a built-in wall cupboard and shelf space. The bathroom is en-suite.
Top Roof Terrace
As hinted by the opening photo, sun-worshippers and those who enjoy watching events in the harbour from the privacy of their own terrace will really appreciate the lofty position of the Top Roof Terrace. The 360-degree views are as spectacular as they are interesting. The top terrace is reached via stairs from the top floor landing. From this flower-studded terrace, there is a panoramic view around Hydra’s unique architecture, across red-tiled roofs to the sea and Hydra's port and across the dramatic sides of the amphitheatre that embraces Hydra Town. It is very hot in the day for sun-seekers and with table and chairs. At night it is perfect for evening refreshment watching the sun go down and the stars come out.
