Helicopter transfer from Athens AIA to Kivotos, Hydra Island Greece

All private helicopter arrivals and departures are from the uninhabited, rocky islet called Kivotos, just off the Bay of Molos on the north-western coast of Hydra. Once landed, passengers are collected by water taxi for the 3 minute taxi ride into Hydra harbour.

There is no airport nor landing strip on Hydra where a plane or helicopter can land. The ONLY exception to this is for the emergency services who do have permission to land in the playing field in Hydra town.

AirLift SA Helicopter Service

AirLift offer a number of helicopters to air transfer visitors to and from Hydra and Athens AIA.


Typically for transfers, you will be flown on a French-made Airbus Helicopters AS 355 but they have smaller as well as larger depending on the number of visitors and whether you want a simple transfer or perhaps a fly over sight-seeing an aerial photography session or an ambulance flight. AirLift offer a number of helicopters to air transfer visitors to and from Hydra and Athens AIA.

Included in the price 

AirLift collect passengers from the main international arrival lounge and escort them to the separate helicopter hanger to embark.
Flight from Athens AIA to Kivotos Islet (off Molos Bay)
They also include booking a water taxi to collect you from Kivotos.
The price of the water taxi is not included as it will vary depending upon where you want to be dropped off on Hydra. So the water taxi driver is paid separately.
Travel time from Kivotos to Hydra Harbour by water taxi is 3-5 mins (cost €40 - €50).
Please note that Kivotos is a barren rocky islet and you should come prepared with flat or comfortable walking shoes as you will have to walk over rough ground to get on board your water taxi (high heels will be ruined!). There is no office, no paths and nowhere to buy refreshments. And to make sure you aren't stranded on the island I strongly recommend that you put the mobile number of the sea taxi driver that AirLift will have booked for you, in your mobile. Regards, Kelsey.
