Angelika Lialios is a contemporary German artist, who focuses her work on flower paintings, detailed garden scenes and watercolour miniatures of the Greek islands.
Living on Hydra among fellow artists such as Brice Marden, William Pownall, Marios Loizides and Marcella Maltais in the bohemian 70s, she had her first exhibition in the Loulaki Gallery, Hydra,1985.
Born in Germany, she studied Graphic Design at the Werkkunstschule, Wiesbaden and moved to Greece when she married her husband George.
Together they journeyed through India, where Moghul miniatures with their bright colours and attention to detail further inspired her work.
Between 2009-2017 she and her family spent some years in England.
Her current acrylic paintings play with light and transparency in flowers and abstract motivs. Most recent paintings reflect the romanticism and abundance of English gardens.
Angelika’s interests involve sculpture, photography and the process of creating artist books. She likes to explore different painting styles using a variety of materials and techniques.
Her work can be found in private collections worldwide.
