The Hydra Language School is a first class private teaching resource for the children of Hydra. It is dedicated to teaching Hydra's Greek children the English, French and Spanish Languages to a very high standard, putting them forward for internationally recognised qualifications, which widens the possibilities for Hydra's youngsters to gain access to international schools, universities and even employment with multi-national companies.
Because the school concentrates solely on one subject, Languages, it provides an invaluable extra learning experience that the mainstream public schools are not able to offer due to the crowded state syllabus.
The purpose built school, is located near the Four Corners supermarket an easy 10 minute up from the port, off Lignou Street.
Aspiring French, English, and Spanish Speakers
- Most of our students are schoolchildren (ages 6 – 18).
- Classes are held between 3pm and 9pm Monday through Friday.
- We don’t have classes with more than 10 students, usually 4 – 8.
- We prepare our students for the following internationally recognised diplomas:

- FCE (Lower, B2)
- CAE (Advanced, C1)
- CPE (Proficiency, C2)
University of Michigan certificates administered by the Hellenic American Union:

Ydragogy is the registered charity of the Hydra Language School.
The charity raises funds for extra curricular activities and events for the school children of Hydra - including those who do not attend the school.
Ydragogy takes children on school trips to England, organises the annual Christmas Bazaar and Santa Claus visit as well as many other events throughout the year.
The work of the charity positively reinforces the importance of communication to a wider international audience and is an intrinsic and much loved part of the community of Hydra.
