The Maragos supermarket, especially in the winter, is a bit of a community hub where locals exchange news. In 2023, the supermarket was moved by owner Nikos Maragos, from next door to the post office, into the premises of what had been his Bandera Cafe (which he closed). So now, Nikos can look out the door and immediately see what's going on with his supply boat, Georgia, which he also operates for the island.
The Maragos Supermarket does not keep a delivery mule. Instead they have assistants who carry your shopping for you. (So long as it's humanly possible to carry! And also no more than level streets and a maximum of 100 steps to your house from the shop.) This is a free service if you order more than €30 worth of shopping. If your house is further away or just too much for someone to physically carry, then you will need to arrange & pay for your own muleteer to collect.
Residents: Obviously, the first time you have a delivery to your house, you will need to have been into the shop and ensured that they are happy to give you an account (so you can pay when you are next in town) and to show them on a map exactly where your house is. Once set up, you can then phone or preferably email your order (using the form below) in the morning to get delivery later in the afternoon.
Holiday Makers: For holiday makers staying in a self-catering rental house, you can call into the supermarket, select and pay for your shopping. Then one of the assistant will come with you to your holiday house helping you to carry your shopping.
